Jason Kercheval

Jason Kercheval

Jason, a native of Houston, graduated from Klein Forest High School in 1998. He earned an appointment and full scholarship to the United States Naval Academy, where he graduated in 2002 and was commissioned as an ensign in the United States Navy. After three years of active duty as a Surface Warfare Officer, he transitioned to the reserves and returned to Houston to attend law school at South Texas College of Law Houston.

During his time at South Texas College of Law Houston, Jason was selected as one of only 12 students from his first-year class to join the prestigious South Texas College of Law Advocacy program. He became a travelling Mock Trial Advocate and received recognition as a top-10 Mock Trial Advocate multiple times. His exceptional performance led to him being awarded the "John O'Quinn Heart of an Advocate" award.

After graduating from law school, Jason decided to serve his country once again and became a Judge Advocate with the Texas Army National Guard. As a JAG in the National Guard, he worked as a Trial Defense Services (TDS) Trial Attorney, defending soldiers charged with wrongdoing under the Uniform Code of Military Justice and the Texas Code of Military Justice. Jason and his team successfully defended many soldiers from administrative discharges and other consequences resulting from their mistakes.

In 2013, Jason founded The Kercheval Law Firm, primarily handling Criminal, Family, and Probate cases in Montgomery, Harris, and Grimes Counties. During his third year at law school, he met his wife, Jaime, who later joined The Kercheval Law Firm as a partner after their marriage in 2015.

In 2015, Jason’s desire to continue to serve his community, just as he had in the Navy and Texas Army National Guard, compelled him to step into the role of Defense Attorney for the Montgomery County Veteran’s Treatment Court. Jason provided valuable insight to the court in its collaborative process to help dozens of veterans dealing with mental health disorders, substance abuse disorders, and brain injuries receive the treatment and care they needed and deserved, while also mitigating the negative consequences of the criminal acts the committed due to their underlying service-connected issues.

In late 2016, Jason, along with a few other people connected to the Veteran’s Treatment Court, started the Veteran’s Treatment Court Support Fund, a 501c3 non-profit agency that provides financial support to the Veterans in the Court, as well as to their families. The fund is almost exclusively funded by the juror donations of citizens of Montgomery County, and thousands of dollars have been used to cover costs of treatment for the Veterans, providing transportation to Veterans, buying diapers or food for their dependents, and even helping with post-Hurricane Harvey repairs. Jason has served as the President of the fund from its inception, and remains it’s President today, and has never received a penny for his work helping these Veterans and fellow citizens of our state.

Jason and Jaime are proud parents to their daughter, Jenevieve, born in 2017. After the birth of their daughter in 2017, Jason left The Kercheval Law Firm to join Price & Price, where he specialized almost exclusively in Family Law. Jaime, on the other hand, focused on raising Jenevieve until she reached Kindergarten, acting as Of Counsel to Price & Price and working primarily from home, and focusing on Wills, Probate, and Estate Planning.

As a husband and father, Jason understands the paramount importance of family. Jason is dedicated to fighting for his clients' rights in divorce and family law cases, ensuring their close relationship with their children is preserved.

On June 1, 2023, Jason and Jaime restarted the Kercheval Law Firm to better serve their clients now and in the future but remain of counsel to Price & Price to assist when the need arises.
